Get to know the place
These are the mountains just above Rio de Janeiro, where the imperial family escaped the heat and left behind palaces, neo-Gothic cathedrals and streets of mansions that are now museums. In a few hours you trade air conditioning for a fireplace, eat fondue at a mountain pousada (inn) and wake up to the jagged Serra dos Órgãos in your window. It is also one of the birthplaces of Brazilian mountaineering, with the Dedo de Deus, the Pedra do Sino and the Petrópolis-Teresópolis traverse.
This destination brings together 7 cities: Petrópolis, Teresópolis, Nova Friburgo, Guapimirim, Cachoeiras de Macacu, São José do Vale do Rio Preto, Sumidouro.
