The guide
Cidade Turismo is a travel guide built city by city, now also in Denmark. For each place you'll find things to do, attractions with their own page, when to go and how to get there.
The guide has three ways in, so you can start wherever you like: routes, which link towns along one journey; destinations, which are the tourist regions; and the regions, with the main cities in each one.
The texts are written from official tourism sources, such as national and regional tourism offices, national parks and city halls, and new cities and routes keep being added to the guide.

Where to start
Six cities from the guide, changing every day.

Roskilde is at the head of the fjord of the same name, 30 km west of Copenhague, about 25 minutes by train. It was a city of kings and bishops in the Middle Ages and preserves the cathedral where the Danish monarchs are buried, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the Museu dos Navios Vikings by the water. The Ragnarock, a rock museum, occupies the old industrial district of Musicon.

Billund is the town in Jutlândia where Lego was born; the company still keeps its headquarters and factory there. It has an international airport, Legoland (opened in 1968), and the Lego House in the centre, with build zones and the company's history. Thirty kilometres away are the Jelling rune stones, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Skagen is the town at the northern tip of Dinamarca, with yellow houses with red roofs, a fishing harbour and beaches on both sides of the peninsula. At Grenen the Skagerrak meets the Kattegat. The Museu de Skagen holds the works of the painters who lived there at the end of the 19th century, and nearby are the church buried by sand and the moving dune Råbjerg Mile.

Copenhague is the capital of Denmark, on the east coast of Zealand, facing Sweden. The old center is explored on foot and by bicycle: Strøget, Nyhavn, the palaces of Rosenborg, Amalienborg and Christiansborg, the Round Tower and the canals of Christianshavn. It has museums of art, history and design, the Tivoli in the center and fast trains to Helsingør, Hillerød, Roskilde and the Louisiana.

Ribe is the oldest town in Denmark, in southwest Jutland, with a Viking market active since the early 8th century. The centre of timber-framed houses surrounds the country's oldest cathedral, and two museums tell the Viking story. To the west, the Mar de Wadden, a national park and UNESCO World Heritage Site, features the sol negro of the starlings and the low-tide crossing to Mandø.

Odense is the largest city on Funen and the third in Denmark, about 1h15 by train from Copenhagen. The birthplace of H. C. Andersen, it has the writer's museum, his childhood home, the Catedral de São Canuto and an old cobbled quarter. To the south are the open-air museum Den Fynske Landsby and, 30 km away, the Castelo de Egeskov.
