The guide
Cidade Turismo is a travel guide built city by city, now also in Norway. For each place you'll find things to do, attractions with their own page, when to go and how to get there.
The guide has three ways in, so you can start wherever you like: routes, which link towns along one journey; destinations, which are the tourist regions; and the counties, with the main cities in each one.
The texts are written from official tourism sources, such as national and regional tourism offices, national parks and city halls, and new cities and routes keep being added to the guide.

Where to start
Six cities from the guide, changing every day.

Flåm is a village at the head of the Aurlandsfjord, an arm of the Sognefjord, where the Flåmsbana ends after descending from Myrdal through the mountains. Boats depart from the quay for the Nærøyfjord, a World Heritage site. Flåm is the base for the Stegastein viewpoint, the Aurlandsfjellet road and the medieval wooden churches of Borgund and Urnes.

Alta is the largest town in Finnmark, at the end of the Altafjord, known as the aurora borealis city. It has the Hjemmeluft rock carvings, a World Heritage Site next to the museu de Alta, the Catedral da Aurora Boreal in spiral form and, inland, the Sautso canyon. It lies on the way to Cabo Norte.

Oslo is the capital of Norway, at the end of the Oslofjord, with a compact center between the central station, Karl Johans gate and the harbor. It brings together the Ópera with a walkable roof, the MUNCH, the Museu Nacional, the fortress of Akershus, Parque Vigeland and, in Bygdøy, the Fram, Kon-Tiki and Folklore museums. It is the country's main gateway.

Ålesund is the coastal town of Møre e Romsdal spread across islands, rebuilt in stone and brick in the art nouveau style after the 1904 fire. It has the Aksla viewpoint, up 418 steps, the art nouveau centre around the Brosundet canal, the Atlanterhavsparken aquarium and the Sunnmøre Museum. It is the gateway to the Geirangerfjord.

Loen is the village at the end of the Innvikfjord, an arm of the Nordfjord, from which the Loen Skylift rises up to Mount Hoven. The Lodalen valley leads along the lake Lovatnet to the Kjenndalsbreen glacier, and the Jostedalsbreen National Park centre is in Oppstryn, 25 km away.

Stavanger is the seat of Rogaland and Norway's oil city on the southwest coast. It has an old town of white wooden houses, the colourful Øvre Holmegate, a 12th-century cathedral and the Petroleum Museum around the harbour of Vågen. It is the base for the Lysefjord, the Preikestolen hike and Kjeragbolten.
