The guide
Cidade Turismo is a travel guide built city by city, now also in Hungary. For each place you'll find things to do, attractions with their own page, when to go and how to get there.
The guide has three ways in, so you can start wherever you like: routes, which link towns along one journey; destinations, which are the tourist regions; and the counties, with the main cities in each one.
The texts are written from official tourism sources, such as national and regional tourism offices, national parks and city halls, and new cities and routes keep being added to the guide.

Where to start
Six cities from the guide, changing every day.

Pannonhalma develops below the hill of the Benedictine abbey, founded in 996. The monastic complex, with its library, basilica and cloister, is the main reason to visit. Arrival from Győr requires allowing time for the final transfer between public transport and the climb up the hill.

Szeged is organized along the Tisza on the Great Plain. The votive church and its square, the New Synagogue and the Reök Palace display different architectures. The Ferenc Móra Museum adds archaeology and regional culture near the river.

Pécs brings together the early-Christian necropolis of Sopianae, the four-towered cathedral and the old mosque on Széchenyi Square. The Zsolnay Cultural Quarter adds industrial heritage and ceramic collections. As the seat of Baranya, it is possible to combine these layers in two days.

Esztergom’s basilica crowns the hill by the Danube, opposite Slovakia. The visit combines the scale of the building and its religious spaces. Below, in Víziváros, the Christian Museum gathers paintings and sculpture in rooms of the primatial palace.

Tihany occupies a peninsula on the north shore of Lake Balaton. The Benedictine abbey rises above the water, with a Baroque church and a medieval crypt. The small center and surroundings allow combining the religious visit with scenic walks.

Eger combines the castle above the center, a neoclassical basilica and the preserved minaret among the old streets. The city is the seat of Heves and a base to learn about northern Hungarian culture. Its core allows alternating walls, religious interiors and walks.
