About Cervejaria Bohemia

Cervejaria Bohemia occupies the factory's historic building on Rua Alfredo Pachá, in downtown Petrópolis. The brand considers 1853 the year the brewery began in the city, so it is presented as the oldest brewery in Brazil. Today the site has an interactive beer tour, a shop, a bar and a restaurant.

The brewery was founded in imperial times and became associated with the German Henrique Kremer, and the name Bohemia appeared at the end of the 19th century. Production continues on site, on a smaller scale, with a microbrewery used to test recipes.

The tour covers the history of beer since ancient times, explains the ingredients and shows the brewing process. Along the way are the old vat and brewing room, with copper tanks, and glass-walled spaces where you can see part of the production. The visit ends with a tasting for those 18 and over.

The tour is indoors and works well on a rainy day, which is common in the mountains. Children may enter with an adult but do not take part in the tasting. There are guided tours at set times, as well as self-paced visits.
