The guide
Cidade Turismo is a travel guide built city by city, now also in Fiji. For each place you'll find things to do, attractions with their own page, when to go and how to get there.
The guide has three ways in, so you can start wherever you like: routes, which link towns along one journey; destinations, which are the tourist regions; and the provinces, with the main cities in each one.
The texts are written from official tourism sources, such as national and regional tourism offices, national parks and city halls, and new cities and routes keep being added to the guide.

Where to start
Six cities from the guide, changing every day.

Suva is the capital of Fiji, a port city on a peninsula in southeast Viti Levu. It has colonial buildings, a university and a busy center, where you can visit the Fiji Museum in Thurston Gardens, the municipal market, the government buildings and the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart. About 20 minutes away, Colo-i-Suva Forest has trails and natural pools.

Denarau is a small island west of Nadi, connected to the mainland by a short bridge. It brings together large resorts, an 18-hole golf course and Port Denarau Marina, from where regular boats and tours to the Mamanuca and Yasawa Islands depart. It’s the starting and return point for almost all trips to the western islands.

Malolo Lailai is one of the islands closest to Denarau, in the southern Mamanuca group, with a sheltered lagoon that serves as an anchorage for yachts crossing the Pacific. It has an airstrip, a marina and a few accommodations. It is the base for the southern reef breaks, such as Cloudbreak, and for snorkeling and diving trips in the lagoon.

Matamanoa is a small island in the western Mamanuca, with a white sand crescent beach and shallow reefs around. It is a single-resort island, about a 1.5-hour boat ride from Denarau, neighboring Monuriki and Yanuya, the village where women make handmade pottery.

Nadi is the town with Fiji’s international airport, on the west of Viti Levu. It has a main street with Indo-Fijian shops, the municipal market, the Sri Siva Subramaniya Hindu temple and, in the Sabeto valley, the Garden of the Sleeping Giant and thermal mud pools. It’s the base for the first and last days of the trip and for boats that depart Denarau for the islands.

Pacific Harbour is on the south coast of Viti Levu, about 50 km west of Suva, and presents itself as Fiji’s adventure capital. From here you can do dives at Shark Reef, the marine reserve where bull sharks often appear, take boat trips on the Navua River, and crossings to Beqa Island.
