About Colina dos Mirantes
The Colina dos Mirantes is a hill in the Fazendinha neighborhood of Teresópolis, turned into a leisure area in the late 1960s. At the top is a panoramic viewpoint with a staircase, surrounded by lawn and trees.
The view is the reason to visit. From the top you can see much of the urban area of Teresópolis and, behind it, the wall of the Serra dos Órgãos, with the Dedo de Deus and the other peaks jagged on the horizon. It is one of the spots in town where the range appears most complete.
The final approach is along packed-dirt and paved paths among the trees, with a short climb. People with limited mobility will find steps up to the top of the viewpoint, but the view from the surrounding lawn is already worth it.
It is a short, free outing, good to fit in between other activities in town, especially if you want to photograph the mountains.
