What to expect from Nova Era.
Nova Era developed from the former arraial of São José da Lagoa, beside the Rio Piracicaba. The 18th-century parish church, at the top of the hill, and the group of manor houses around the Praça da Matriz preserve the memory of that settlement. In this Circuito do Ouro, the municipality is part of the sector visited with Itabira, before returning to the roads that lead to Santa Bárbara.
