About Cânion Índios Coroados
The Índios Coroados Canyon sits high on the Serra do Faxinal, right on the border between Cambará do Sul (RS) and Praia Grande (SC). It's part of the Parque Nacional da Serra Geral and is one of the easiest canyons to visit in the region.
From the road, a short, almost flat trail of about 600 meters crosses a stretch of grassland and a small creek to the rim. In about 15 minutes of walking you reach the viewpoint.
From the viewpoint you can see the deep valley between basalt walls and, across from you, the twin waterfalls plunging down the canyon wall. On clear days, other nearby canyons and the Santa Catarina plain far below also come into view.
It's a good outing if you're short on time or don't want to tackle long trails. The ground is grass and rock, with no facilities on site, and the rim has no railing: keep away from the edge.
