About Cascata do Galo
Cascata do Galo (waterfall) is one of the best-known waterfalls in Domingos Martins, in the Espírito Santo mountains. The water drops about 70 meters down a large rock wall, in three falls, surrounded by Atlantic Forest.
It is in the Galo area, a rural part of the municipality that makes up the Circuito Turístico do Galo (tourist route). The route brings together small family farms and food producers making cheeses, coffee, breads and preserves, plus viewpoints and trails.
At the foot of the waterfall, the water runs among large rocks and forms natural pools, good for a dip on sunny days. The water is cold. The rock wall and its surroundings also draw people who rappel, hike and cycle along the area's roads.
There are no facilities at the waterfall itself, but there are bars, restaurants and pousadas (guesthouses) nearby. It is an easy outing to fit into a visit to downtown Domingos Martins.
