About Mátria Parque de Flores

Mátria Parque de Flores is a private garden park in São Francisco de Paula, in Serra Gaúcha. It's on ERS-235, on the way between the town and Canela, and opened to the public in 2021.

The park covers about 50 hectares and has 30 themed gardens, with about 300 plant species. Among them are the Rose Garden, the Magnolia Garden, the Cherry Blossom Path, the Lilac Garden, the Cactus and Succulent Garden and the Vale dos Ipês, plus viewpoints and swings scattered along the way.

At the center is a lake with boat rides. You explore on foot, along paths that link one garden to the next. The park has restaurants, picnic baskets, home and plant shops and restrooms. The entrance boulevard, with food and shops, can be visited without a ticket.

The flower beds are replanted with the seasons, so the scenery changes throughout the year. It's a relaxed outing, good for families, couples and anyone who enjoys photography and gardening; the walk is long, so wear comfortable shoes.

Each season has its flowers: cherry blossoms in fall, wisteria and ipê trees in winter, begonias and sunflowers in spring, and hydrangeas and roses in summer. Mornings and late afternoons have softer light and fewer people.

How to get there

It's at km 68 of ERS-235, about 10 km from the center of São Francisco de Paula toward Canela. Access is by car; from Gramado or Canela it takes less than an hour.

Tip

Buy your ticket in advance from the park's online store, which is usually cheaper than at the ticket office, and check opening hours on the official website before you head out.
