About Snowland
Snowland opened on October 25, 2013, on the highway between Gramado and Nova Petrópolis, as Brazil's first indoor snow park. In a climate-controlled building, snow is made all year, and in the snow area the temperature drops to minus 5 degrees.
The heart of the park is the snow mountain. You go up on a conveyor lift and come down on skis, a snowboard or a tube. If you've never skied, you can take a ski or snowboard lesson with an instructor at the snow school; lessons and ski equipment cost extra. A helmet is required for snow activities. There's also an ice skating rink, with figure skating shows, and ice slides.
Around it is the Vila da Neve, an Alpine-style village with a carousel, a castle and a kids' area, a theater and cafés. There the temperature stays between 18 and 22 degrees, and you can take off your coat between activities. On busy days, the line for the conveyor lift up the mountain is what takes the most time.
Admission includes a waterproof jacket and pants, boots and gloves, in sizes for children from age one and for adults. Some activities have a minimum height or age. Outside food is not allowed, with exceptions such as baby food. It's a half-day outing that works in any weather outside, and the simplest way to see and step on snow without leaving Brazil.
