About Réplica de Caxias do Sul de 1885
The Réplica de Caxias do Sul de 1885 recreates a stretch of the old village as it was that year, in the early days of Italian settlement. It's in the Parque da Festa da Uva, the Parque Mário Bernardino Ramos, where the festival takes place.
The replica opened at the 1978 Festa da Uva and reproduces two blocks of the old Rua Grande, between today's Avenida Júlio de Castilhos and Rua Doutor Montaury. The buildings follow the techniques of the time. Almost all are wooden, and the ensemble also has a chapel, a bell tower and a bandstand.
The houses hold food spots, crafts and exhibits on the settlement. The Museu do Comércio recreates a late 19th-century general store, with period furniture and goods.
You explore on foot, along short streets, and it appeals to families and history lovers. The park has other attractions nearby, such as the Monumento Jesus Cristo Terceiro Milênio and the Stations of the Cross staircase.
