It was built in 1931, inspired by the eclectic style, in a town founded in 1778 that is among the oldest in Mato Grosso do Sul. The church has been listed as a historic landmark by the state government since 1998.
What stands out is the simple, symmetrical facade, with three arched doors and the bell tower in the center, framed by the palm trees along the street. In front, the square is a good spot to take in the view and rest in the shade.
The visit is quick and effortless, on foot around downtown. As it is an active church, the interior is usually open during Mass and celebrations.
