About Encontro dos Rios Salobra e Miranda

The Encontro dos Rios Salobra e Miranda is the spot where the clear Salobra River flows into the muddy Miranda River, in the Miranda Pantanal (MS). The two waters run side by side for a stretch before mixing, and the color contrast is the most anticipated moment of the trip.

The Salobra rises in the Serra da Bodoquena region, runs through canyons and enters the Pantanal plain, where it forms a small delta before reaching the Miranda. The visit is run by Projeto Salobra, a day-use site in a rural area a few kilometers from the BR-262.

From the reception to the riverbank, the group rides in a tractor-pulled trailer. Then you travel down the Salobra in a low-powered motorboat, with a guide, to the meeting with the Miranda. The itinerary includes an easy trail through the riverside forest (depending on the season), a swim at a small river beach and a lunch of Pantanal food.

Along the way you often see birds, such as the jabiru stork, as well as capybaras and marsh deer. The region is popular with birdwatchers. Little effort is needed, which makes the trip suitable for families; if you have limited mobility, check with the operator beforehand, because of the trailer and boarding.
