About Centro Referencial da Cultura Terena
The Centro Referencial da Cultura Terena is a space dedicated to the culture of the Terena people and other Indigenous peoples of Miranda (MS). Its official name is Centro Referencial das Culturas dos Povos Originários Kali Síni. It stands at the entrance to the town, by the BR-262 traffic circle, and is a natural stop if you are heading to the Pantanal or Bonito.
Opened in 2004, the center brings together pieces linked to the Terena villages in the municipality. Miranda has 11 villages and one of the largest Indigenous populations in Mato Grosso do Sul, and the space was designed as a showcase for that presence.
Besides presenting Terena culture, the center is a sales point for Indigenous crafts made in the villages, especially pieces made by women, such as pottery. Buying there is a way to take home a souvenir of the region and generate income directly for the artisans.
The building is single-story, and the visit is quick and effortless, good for all ages.
