About Baía de Siá Mariana
Baía de Siá Mariana, also called Sinhá Mariana, is in Barão de Melgaço, in the Pantanal of Mato Grosso. It is next to Baía de Chacororé, and together they form a system of bays linked to the Cuiabá River, one of the region's postcard views.
The bay receives the waters of the Mutum River and is linked to Chacororé by the corixo do Mato, a natural channel that acts like a cord between the two bays. Like its neighbor, it is important for fish breeding.
The way to see it is by boat. Area pousadas (guesthouses), some on the shores of the bay itself and the Mutum River, run trips on the water, including at dusk, and offer fishing. Typical Pantanal wildlife lives around it, such as caimans, capybaras and many birds.
The water level changes between the high-water and dry seasons, and trips vary with the time of year.
