About Chapadão
Chapadão is a plateau of reddish earth on top of the cliffs, just south of the village of Pipa, in Tibau do Sul (RN). It separates Praia do Amor from Praia das Minas and is Pipa's best-known viewpoint.
From the top, the view opens in both directions: on one side, Praia do Amor and the heart shape the water makes between the rocks; on the other, Praia das Minas, long and little visited. The ground is flat, and the contrast between the red cliff and the green sea is the region's postcard photo.
There is nothing to see besides the scenery: the visit is about walking along the edge, looking and taking photos. It is an easy place, with no difficult trail. Just don't get close to the edge: a cliff is earth and can give way.

How much time to set aside
Half an hour to an hour is enough to walk around the plateau and see both beaches from above.
Best time
In the late afternoon and at sunrise, when the low light brings out the red of the cliffs; at high tide the heart shape of Praia do Amor shows best.
How to get there
It is south of downtown Pipa, above Praia do Amor. By car, there is parking on top of the cliffs; on foot, you can climb up from Praia do Amor.
Tip
Stay away from the edge: the cliffs are made of fragile earth and can collapse.
