About Centro de Tibau do Sul
The center of Tibau do Sul is the small village that gives its name to the municipality, the same one Pipa belongs to. It sits on high ground between Lagoa de Guaraíras and the sea, right where the lagoon meets the ocean. The pace is much quieter than in Pipa, a few kilometers to the south.
For a long time the place was an isolated village of fishermen and farmers. Tourism arrived from the 1970s, first with surfers, and today the village has pousadas, restaurants and bars without losing its small-town feel.
The square and the main church are in the central area. From the streets along the lagoon, the view opens over the water and the forests on the far shore, and the sunset seen from there is the village's most famous attraction. Below, Praia de Tibau, by the inlet, has calm water sheltered by a reef, good for swimming.
It is also from the lagoon shore that the ferry to Malembá leaves, used by travelers driving north along the coast. The walk around the village is short and easy, on foot, and combines with a swim at the beach and the late afternoon by the lagoon.
