About Praia de Camurupim
Praia de Camurupim is on the coast of Nísia Floresta, in Rio Grande do Norte, between Barra de Tabatinga and Barreta. It is about 30 km from Natal and is one of the most popular beaches on the southern coast.
The highlight is the long reef barrier running parallel to the sand. It holds back the waves and forms natural pools of calm, clear water, especially at low tide. When the tide is higher, the water flows over the reefs and runs down the rocks.
At low tide you can walk on the reefs and watch the waves breaking on the outside. Beneath the reefs is Pedra Oca, a grotto that has become a stop for visitors to the beach.
The strip of sand is wide and firm. There are bars and restaurants along the shore. The calm water makes Camurupim a good choice for families with children.
