About Praia Bela
Praia Bela (beach) is in Pitimbu, on the south coast of Paraíba, and is one of the region's postcard images. What stands out is where the Rio Mucatu (river), with dark waters coming from the mangroves, meets the sea. Between the two lies a narrow strip of sand.
On one side is the river, with calm water, where many people prefer to swim. On the other is the open sea, with waves. All around are coconut palms, forest and cliffs, in a setting that is still rustic.
The riverbank is lined with simple restaurants with decks, tables and hammocks, and you can rent chairs and beach umbrellas on the sand. It is the best-equipped stretch in Pitimbu, with restrooms and activities such as ATV rides, a zip line over the river and kayaking.
It is a good beach for families and for spending the day. It tends to get busy, especially on weekends and in high season, and receives excursions from João Pessoa.

How to get there
It is on the southern coast of Pitimbu (PB). By car, head from João Pessoa along the PB-008 toward the south coast; there are also excursions and agency tours leaving from the capital.
Tip
The sea has waves; for children, the calmest swimming is usually in the river. Bring cash and confirm prices for services before you sit down.
