About Praia Azul
Praia Azul (beach) is in Pitimbu, the last town on the south coast of Paraíba before the border with Pernambuco. It begins just past Praia da Guarita, the town's last urban beach heading toward Acaú, and lies in a quiet neighborhood of vacation homes.
The sea tends to be turquoise blue with generally calm water. The strip of sand is wide, fine and light, good for walking. In the middle of the beach the coast forms a point, and the southern part is lined with coconut groves.
The atmosphere is family-friendly and peaceful, away from the bustle of the town center. There are a few pousadas (guesthouses) and only a handful of beach shacks, so facilities are basic.
It is a beach for rest, calm swimming and walks on the sand, with no hustle.

How much time to set aside
Half a day is enough for a swim and a walk along the shore; if you are staying in the neighborhood, you can spend the whole day.

From September to February, the drier season on the Paraíba coast, in the morning, when the sun brings out the color of the sea.
How to get there
It is in Pitimbu, south of the town center, past Praia da Guarita, on the way to Acaú. From João Pessoa, take the PB-008 coastal highway or the BR-101 and PB-044 to Pitimbu; from town, follow the waterfront south.
Tip
Since there are few beach shacks on the sand, bring water, snacks and a beach umbrella, especially if you go to the southern part, surrounded by coconut palms.
