About Lagoa da Andorinha
Lagoa da Andorinha, also called Lagoa das Andorinhas, is one of the most popular lagoons in Santo Amaro do Maranhão, inside the Parque Nacional dos Lençóis Maranhenses. It's close to town, which makes the tour short and easy to fit into your itinerary.
It's a large lagoon of clear blue water, surrounded by tall dunes of white sand. You can swim, climb the dunes to see the lagoon from above and enjoy the contrast between the water and the sand.
The visit is usually done on the circuit known as Lagoa da Gaivota and Lagoa da Andorinha, in a 4x4 vehicle leaving from Santo Amaro. The lagoons visited vary with the season, because the water level and the landscape change from one season to the next.
The vehicles get close to the edge of the lagoons and the walk is short. That makes the tour a good fit if you don't want to or can't walk much on sand, and also for your arrival or departure days.
