About Cachoeira das Araras
Cachoeira das Araras is a low, easy-to-visit waterfall in the countryside of São Félix do Tocantins, in Jalapão. It is on private property by the TO-030 and is a common stop for people leaving São Félix toward Palmas.
The stream splits before the edge and comes down in two cascades, one stronger and one gentler. The surrounding rock face is covered in ferns, moss and other plants, forming a green wall around the falls.
Below, there is a pool good for swimming, with shallow and deeper parts. Since the water does not fall very hard, you can get very close to the falls. The rocks are slippery, so walk carefully.
The path to the falls is short and not technically difficult, and the place is popular with families with children. The property serves home-style lunch, but only with an advance reservation.
