About Fervedouro do Ceiça

Fervedouro do Ceiça is a spring in Mateiros, in Jalapão (TO), where the water rises from the bottom with so much pressure that it passes through the layer of fine sand and pushes your body up. Anyone who goes into the pool floats effortlessly and cannot sink, even when trying.

It is considered the first fervedouro in Jalapão to be opened and promoted to visitors, and it is still among the most popular in the region. It is on private property, by the TO-110, the road that links Mateiros to São Félix do Tocantins.

The pool of clear water is hidden in the middle of dense forest with banana trees. In the center you can see the sand moving where the spring flows out most strongly. The clear water makes it a favorite spot for underwater photos.

Access is easy, by a short walk through the forest, with no difficult trail. Only a few people go in at a time, and time in the water is controlled when there is a line.
