About Templo Budista Chen Tien

The Templo Budista Chen Tien is one of the largest Buddhist temples in Latin America and one of the most peaceful outings in Foz do Iguaçu. It was founded in 1996 by the Chinese-descended community of the Triple Frontier region and follows the tradition of Chinese Buddhism.

The temple stands on high ground facing the Rio Paraná, with Paraguay on the opposite bank. The main highlight is the open garden, with more than a hundred statues spread across the lawn, and a huge seated Buddha that you can see from far away.

You can walk through the garden, look at the statues up close, enjoy the river view and visit the prayer hall, where photography is not allowed. There is a small shop with incense and souvenirs.

It is an active place of worship: silence and modest clothing are requested, with no low necklines, tank tops, shorts or short skirts. The visit is easy, in a garden setting, and pairs well with a visit to the Itaipu Dam, which is nearby.
