About Marco das Três Fronteiras

The Marco das Três Fronteiras is the spot in Foz do Iguaçu where you can see Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay at the same time. It sits where the Rio Iguaçu meets the Rio Paraná, which form the border between the three countries there.

The Brazilian obelisk, painted green and yellow, was erected in 1903 to mark the border. Across the rivers are the landmarks of Argentina, in blue and white, and Paraguay, in red, white and blue. The three form a triangle, each in its own country.

Today the site is a cultural park with a viewpoint, a small shop, a food court and a kids' area. In the late afternoon there are dance and music performances that tell the history and traditions of the three countries, included in the ticket.

The visit is relaxed, on flat and accessible ground, good for families and for anyone with little time in the city. The highlight is the sunset over the rivers.
