About Rodovia Interpraias
Rodovia Interpraias is the scenic road that starts at Barra Sul, at the end of Praia Central, and follows the southern coast of Balneário Camboriú until it meets the BR-101 highway, near the Morro do Boi tunnel. Along the way it links six wild beaches: Laranjeiras, Taquarinhas, Taquaras, Pinho, Estaleiro and Estaleirinho.
The road is winding, with steep climbs and curves above the rocky shores, and speed is controlled. Heading south, on the ocean side, there are pull-outs where you can park and stop at the viewpoints, which look out over the open sea and the coves between hills of Atlantic Forest.
Each beach has its own character. Laranjeiras is the calmest and has the most facilities. Taquarinhas is almost deserted, reached by stairs from the road. Taquaras has a calmer sea and fishermen. Estaleiro and Estaleirinho are longer, with rough seas and coastal scrub vegetation.
The drive is done mainly by car: there are buses, but they don't run often. Many cyclists use the road, so take care on the curves.
