About Parque Unipraias

Parque Unipraias is the cable car park of Balneário Camboriú. The cabins leave from the Barra Sul Station, at the end of the Praia Central, climb to the Mata Atlântica Station at the top of the Morro da Aguada and descend the other side to the Laranjeiras Station, at Praia de Laranjeiras. The park bills itself as the only cable car linking two beaches.

The park opened in 1999. Each cabin carries up to six people, and the ride over the forest shows the tall buildings of the Praia Central on one side and, on the other, the open sea and the Laranjeiras cove.

At the hilltop station there are trails with boardwalks through the Atlantic Forest and two viewpoints: one facing the city and the Praia Central, the other facing the ocean and Laranjeiras. This is also where the adventure attractions are, paid separately: the Youhooo, a 710-meter mountain coaster on rails that runs down through the forest, and the ZipRider, a zip line from the top of the hill toward Laranjeiras. There is also a themed area for kids.

The cable car ride is easygoing and suits all ages. The stations have elevators and ramps, and the park reports cabins adapted for wheelchair users. If you are afraid of heights, note that the cabins pass well above the treetops.

Practical information

How much time to set aside

Half a day lets you ride the full route, walk the trails, see the viewpoints and spend some time at Praia de Laranjeiras; with the adventure attractions, set aside the whole day.

Best time

On clear days, ideally in the morning, when the view from the lookouts is sharpest and lines are shorter; in the summer high season the park is packed, and March and November are usually quieter.

How to get there

The Barra Sul Station is on Avenida Atlântica, at the southern end of the Praia Central of Balneário Camboriú, and you can walk there along the waterfront or go by car or bus. You can also board at the Laranjeiras Station, on the beach of the same name, on the other side of the hill.

Tip

Go early and on a day without fog: with the hill covered in clouds, the viewpoints lose their appeal. If you get off at Laranjeiras to enjoy the beach, bring swimwear and check the time of the last ride back.
