About Cachoeira Serra Azul
Cachoeira Serra Azul (waterfall) is the main attraction of the Parque Sesc Serra Azul, a conserved area of cerrado (Brazilian savanna) in the district of Marzagão, in Rosário Oeste. It is in the Nobres ecotourism region, and many people know it as one of the Nobres waterfalls, but the park is in Rosário Oeste territory.
The falls plunge between sandstone cliffs and form a crystal-clear lake below. The waterfall feeds the Riacho Serra Azul (stream), where the park offers river swimming.
The park is a Sesc Pantanal reserve covering more than 5,000 hectares of cerrado. Sesc has recorded endangered species there, dozens of fish species and the presence of jaguars and harpy eagles. Besides admiring the waterfall, there is a zip line, a treetop course, bike touring and a restaurant serving regional food.
To reach the waterfall you have to tackle a trail with a long staircase, which you go down on the way there and climb on the way back. The outing requires some fitness and can be hard for people with limited mobility.
