About Aquário Encantado
Aquário Encantado is a spring-fed lagoon in the district of Bom Jardim, in Nobres (MT). Its official name is Recanto Ecológico da Lagoa Azul, and it is one of the most popular tours in the region. The clear water lets you see the fish and the bottom, about 6 meters deep.
The main activity is surface snorkeling, with mask, snorkel and life vest. Schools of piraputanga and dourado swim in the lagoon, among other species. You may not stand on the bottom, so as not to cloud the water, or wear sunscreen.
The tour includes a short walk through the riverside forest and a float down the Rio Salobra (river). Local guides accompany the group, and time in the water is controlled.
The lagoon has still water, with no current, which makes snorkeling easy for children and older visitors. There is a restaurant on site. Entry is with the Voucher Único Digital (single digital voucher), bought from accredited tour agencies.

How much time to set aside
Plan on a few hours: the tour combines a walk, snorkeling in the lagoon and floating down the Rio Salobra (river), and lunch is served on site.
Best time
In the morning: arrive early, before the bigger crowds, and avoid the late afternoon, when the water gets colder and the underwater light fades.
How to get there
It is along the MT-241 highway, in the Bom Jardim area, a district of Nobres, about 12 km from the village of Bom Jardim. Visits are booked through accredited tour agencies.
Tip
Book in advance, because the number of visitors per day is limited, and don't apply sunscreen or insect repellent before the tour. Mask, snorkel, life vest and footwear are provided.
