About Pedra da Arara
Pedra da Arara is a large rock wall on the banks of the Paraguaçu River, in Nova Redenção, in Chapada Diamantina (BA). The wall rises almost straight up from the riverside forest, and in the calm stretches the river reflects the rock like a mirror.
The place is also called Morro da Arara or Morro das Araras and is among the area's main natural attractions, along with Poço Azul. Visits are organized by Eco Parque Pedra da Arara, based at Praia do Adriano, a river beach on the Paraguaçu.
The most popular way to see the rock wall is by boat, on a trip that leaves from the beach and follows the Paraguaçu to the rock. You can also rent a stand-up paddleboard and paddle along the river, or simply swim. There are simple stalls with snacks and drinks.
The boat trip requires no effort and suits almost everyone. The facilities are basic, so bring what you need to spend a few hours by the river.
