Cachoeira do Licuri
A waterfall of about 100 meters set into Serra do Sincorá, roughly 12 km from town, with a large natural pool at its base. The trail is considered easy and is usually less crowded than those in the nearby canyons.

About Cachoeira do Licuri
Cachoeira do Licuri (waterfall) is in Ibicoara, in the southern Chapada Diamantina, in Bahia. The water falls from a crack in Serra do Sincorá, in the Vale do Campo Redondo area, and is among the tallest in the Chapada.
At the base, the water forms a wide pool, good for swimming. You can see the waterfall in two ways: from above, at a viewpoint, or from below, by the pool.
Following the river from the falls, the outing can continue past other smaller waterfalls and pools, such as Cachoeira das Raízes, Escadinha and Escorregador. You can link these stops in the same outing.
Most of the way is done by car, and the walk to the falls is short. The hardest part is the steep descent and climb beside the waterfall. It is not suitable for people with limited mobility.

A visit to the main waterfall fits into a few hours; allow more time if you want to continue to the smaller waterfalls along the way.
Best time
In the rainy season the falls tend to have more water; in the dry season, the rocks and the descent are safer. Go in the morning, with time for a swim and to get back in daylight.
How to get there
The waterfall is in Vale do Campo Redondo, in Ibicoara. Most of the way from town is done by car, and the rest is a short walk. Local guides from Ibicoara take visitors there.
Tip
Wear shoes with good grip: the descent beside the falls is steep and the rocks near the water get slippery (sources: Viaje com Norma and Associação Bicho do Mato).
