About Lagoa Quente de Pirapitinga
Lagoa Quente de Pirapitinga is a lagoon of natural thermal water in Caldas Novas, in southern Goiás. It is a historic spot: the lagoon is linked to the discovery of the region's hot waters in the 18th century and was the starting point of the town's fame.
Today the lagoon lies inside the Lagoa Termas Parque, also called Lagoa Quente, a private water park of the Lagoa Parques & Hotéis group. To see the lagoon you have to enter the park, with a paid ticket (day use).
Around the lagoon there is a green area with trees and a small historic center with a monument to the bandeirantes (colonial explorers). Nearby, between the lagoon and the river, is the Poço Cozinha Ovos (Egg-Cooking Well), where the thermal water springs from the ground so hot that you could cook an egg.
The rest of the park has several thermal pools among coconut palms and gardens, water slides, a wave pool with an artificial beach and a children's area. It is smaller than the town's big parks and usually calmer, good for families and for anyone who wants to combine a thermal soak with a bit of history.
