About Praia do Pindobal
Praia do Pindobal is in Belterra, in western Pará, on the bank of the Tapajós River. It is a few kilometers from the village of Alter do Chão and is part of the region's freshwater beach circuit.
On the strip of soft white sand, a row of thatched huts lines the riverbank. They are rented out by the beach restaurants, and you can spend the whole day in the shade, between swims and plates of fish. The Tapajós water is warm and usually calm near the shore.
The big moment of the day is the late afternoon: the sun sets over the water, right in front of the beach.
The landscape changes throughout the year. When the Tapajós is low, the strip of sand is wide; at high water, the river spreads over the beach and the sand shrinks considerably. On high-season weekends the beach usually gets packed; on weekdays it is quiet, and many restaurants are closed.
