About Praia de Aramanaí
Praia de Aramanaí is on the bank of the Tapajós River, in Belterra, in western Pará. It is the first beach on the way from the town center toward Alter do Chão, and it sits next to the riverside community of the same name, inside the Aramanaí Environmental Protection Area.
In the dry season, the river drops and leaves a long strip of light sand, with low trees at the water's edge and wooden boats moored near the shore. The water is calm and good for swimming. At high water, the river rises and reaches the houses and stilt buildings along the shore.
The beach has thatched stalls, a restaurant and a pousada (guesthouse) run by the community itself. It is less known than the beaches of Alter do Chão and is mostly visited by residents of nearby towns.
Residents hold religious festivals throughout the year and organize forest walks to springs, which are worth arranging in the community. It is a relaxed outing, good for families and for anyone who wants a river day without the bustle of Alter.
