About Cooperativa Vinícola Garibaldi

The Cooperativa Vinícola Garibaldi is one of the best-known wineries in Serra Gaúcha and is in the Centro neighborhood of Garibaldi, the sparkling wine town. Behind it are hundreds of families of small grape growers from the region.

The cooperative was founded in 1931 by grape growers descended from Italian immigrants, who joined forces to make and sell their own wine. Over time it grew and became known mainly for its sparkling wines, as well as wines and grape juices.

The guided tour shows how grapes become wine and sparkling wine. It goes through rooms with large wooden casks, fermentation tanks and old equipment used in the cooperative's early days. There's also a cellar where the tasting takes place inside a giant wooden cask. Tours end with a tasting, and the winery also offers themed food and wine pairing experiences.

It's a good outing if you want to understand cooperative work, typical of Serra Gaúcha, and learn about sparkling wine in a simple way. It appeals to couples, groups and families. Tastings are for those 18 and over only.
