About Parque da Estação
The Parque da Estação is the main green space in the center of Carlos Barbosa, in Serra Gaúcha. It's laid out around the old railroad station building, opened in 1909 and listed as a Municipal Heritage Site.
The station recalls the days when the train linked the Italian settlements of the mountains. Today the historic building is one of the town's postcard images and the natural starting point for exploring the center.
The park has a wide lawn, trees, benches, a playground and a sand court. It's a place to stroll at an easy pace, sip chimarrão (traditional mate tea) in the shade and let the kids play. Inside the park is the Casa do Artesanato, with pieces by local artisans and souvenirs of the town.
The space hosts town events throughout the year. The ground is flat and the walk is easy, good for families and for people with limited mobility.
