About Skyglass Canela
Skyglass Canela is a glass platform that juts out about 35 meters beyond the canyon rim, 360 meters above the Rio Caí. It sits on the edge of the Vale da Ferradura, named for the horseshoe-shaped bend the river makes there, between rock walls.
The structure is steel and glass, with a transparent floor and railing. Walking to the tip gives you the feeling of floating over the valley, and from up there you can see the bend in the river and the mountain forest all around.
The complex has other attractions. The Abusado is a monorail with suspended seats that runs beneath the platform, with your legs dangling over the valley. There's also a deck for watching the sunset and the Memorial do Ferro de Passar, with a collection of antique clothes irons, plus a food court.
The visit takes no physical effort, but if you're afraid of heights, the glass floor can be a challenge. Attractions like the Abusado cost extra.

Practical information
How much time to set aside
One to two hours covers the platform, the museum and, if you like, the Abusado.
Best time
Clear days, in any season, guarantee the view of the valley; with fog, common in the mountains, the bottom of the canyon can disappear. Late afternoon offers the sunset from the deck.
How to get there
It's in the Caracol area, about 15 km from the center of Canela, on a paved road. Access is by car, taxi, ride-hailing app or tourist bus; transportation is not included in the ticket.
Tip
Check the weather forecast before heading out: on days of thick fog the view of the valley disappears. You can combine the visit with the Castelinho Caracol and the Parque do Caracol, in the same area.
