About Alto Bananeiras
Alto Bananeiras is a rural community in Venda Nova do Imigrante, in the Espírito Santo mountains, a few kilometers from the BR-262. It has two natural attractions: a lake surrounded by mountains and a waterfall with several drops.
The lake fills the bottom of a valley, among pastures, native forest and rocky slopes. On windless days, the water mirrors the mountains and the sky. A small community church stands on the shore. It is a place for recreational fishing, picnics, photography and simply taking in the view.
On the same road is the Cachoeira do Alto Bananeira (waterfall), made up of seven drops in a row in the middle of the Atlantic Forest. The water flows over rock slabs, and some stretches are used for swimming.
The outing suits anyone who likes nature and peace and quiet. The walks are easy, on roads and trails between farms. There is no bar or tourist infrastructure on site, so bring water and snacks.

The access road leaves the BR-262 at km 106, in Venda Nova do Imigrante. From there it is about 5 km on a signposted dirt road; the lake, the community church and the waterfall are along this road. There is a steep uphill stretch.
Tip
Bring water, snacks, sunscreen, insect repellent and shoes with good grip on rocks, and take your trash back with you: there are no shops on site.
