About Praia do Perequê

Praia do Perequê (beach) is the largest beach in Porto Belo, on the north coast of Santa Catarina. It is in the neighborhood of the same name, about 4 km from downtown, and borders Meia Praia, in Itapema. The Rio Perequê (river) marks the boundary between the two municipalities.

The name comes from Tupi-Guarani and refers to a place where fish spawn. Today Perequê is the most built-up neighborhood in town, with apartment buildings, vacation homes and a tree-lined waterfront along the sand.

The beach is wide and light-colored, good for walking, playing soccer and beach sports. The sea is good for swimming and water sports. From the sand you can see the chain of green hills along the coast and the buildings of Itapema in the background.

It is an urban beach that is easy for families. Access is flat, and the waterfront has the best facilities in the municipality, with restaurants, kiosks, markets and lodging nearby.
