About Praia Central
The Praia Central, also called Praia de Navegantes or Praia do Centro, is right in front of downtown Navegantes, on the northern coast of Santa Catarina. It is the city's most built-up and busiest beach, especially in summer.
The sea is open and usually rough, with good waves. That is why the beach draws surfers and anglers, as well as beach volleyball and soccer players. For swimming, take care and follow the lifeguards' instructions.
The waterfront has a lit promenade, good for a late-afternoon walk, with bars and restaurants. The seafront square has a playground and the Monumento aos Pescadores, which honors the city's fishing tradition. Wooden boardwalks cross the restinga (coastal scrub) to the sand.
It is the beach where the city's main events take place, such as free concerts in the summer season. It is easy to reach, requires no physical effort and appeals to families, sports fans and anyone who wants a beach with facilities.

How to get there
It is on the waterfront in front of downtown Navegantes, along the beachfront avenue, and you can walk from downtown or go by car or city bus. Coming from Itajaí, cross the Itajaí-Açu river by ferry and continue through downtown Navegantes to the waterfront.

The sea is usually rough: go in only near the lifeguard stations and follow the warning flags.
