About Meia Praia

Meia Praia (beach) is the best-known and busiest beach in Itapema, on the northern coast of Santa Catarina. It is a long, wide strip of light sand facing a generally calm sea with greenish water, good for swimming and for families with children.

Meia Praia also gives its name to the surrounding neighborhood. The waterfront is lined with tall buildings, almost all residential, and behind them are most of Itapema's restaurants, bars, shops and services. In the summer season, the beach receives thousands of visitors.

Along the sand runs a promenade with a walking track, bike path, benches, lawns and outdoor exercise equipment. There are ramps down to the beach, which make access easier for wheelchair users and strollers.

The plan is simple: swimming, walking or cycling along the waterfront, and sports on the sand and in the water. It is an urban beach with full facilities, for those who prefer comfort and activity to peace and quiet.
