About Complexo do Prata

The Complexo do Prata is a group of waterfalls formed by the Rio Prata in the countryside of Cavalcante, in Chapada dos Veadeiros, Goiás. The Goiás Tourism Office describes seven falls of emerald-green water along the river.

The most famous is the Cachoeira Rei do Prata, which forms a green pool inside a small canyon and is usually the highlight of the outing. Along the way there are other falls and swimming pools, such as Pratinha, and if you have more stamina you can continue to the more distant falls.

The outing takes the whole day. The trail is long but not technical: it has rocky stretches, river crossings and short climbs, almost all under strong sun. It takes energy, but not hiking experience.

Access is with a licensed guide, and there's an entrance fee. Since it's far from town, on a dirt road, it's an outing for those who want to spend the day in nature, away from the crowds at the more popular waterfalls.
