About Cachoeira Candaru

The Cachoeira Candaru (waterfall) is in the Kalunga quilombola territory, in the Engenho II community, in Cavalcante, in Chapada dos Veadeiros (GO). It's a neighbor of the famous Cachoeira Santa Bárbara and the Cachoeira da Capivara, and usually gets far fewer visitors than they do.

The fall is about 70 meters high and drops into a large pool of greenish, clear water, good for swimming. At the base of the fall, the force of the water creates a kind of natural hot tub.

The way starts on a dirt road from the community and ends on a trail through the forest. The descent to the waterfall is easy, but the return is a tough climb that requires good fitness.

As with all the Engenho II attractions, visits are made with a Kalunga community guide, and there's an entrance fee. The outing can be combined on the same day with the neighboring waterfalls.
