Approximate distances. Check flights and bus, train or boat schedules before you travel.
By helicopter or by boat from Qaqortoq, where the airport is. In summer, cruise and passenger ships also call at the harbour.
How many days
Two days allow you to see the museum and town and take a day boat trip through the Tasermiut Fjord. With three days, you can include the Uunartoq hot springs.
When to go
July and August are the most popular months for the fjord and the trails. In spring, sea ice arriving from the east often builds up in front of the island and can delay boats.
The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.
Do you need a car?
No. Everything is close, and there are taxis for the hills. The streets end on the island itself.
