How to get there
-
St. George Regional Airport (SGU) St. George · 75 km
Approximate distances. Check flights and bus, train or boat schedules before you travel.
It is about a two‑and‑a‑half‑hour drive from Las Vegas via I‑15 and State Route 9, and about an hour from the regional airport in St. George. From town, a local bus goes to the south entrance of the park, which is also reachable on foot along the riverside trail.
How many days
Two days allow the scenic road plus The Narrows in one day and a high trail, such as Angels Landing or the Canyon Overlook, on the other. With one day, choose between The Narrows and the canyon overlooks.
When to go
April, May, September and October have pleasant temperatures and the river is usually calmer. In summer temperatures exceed 35 °C and afternoon storms bring risk of flash floods in the narrow canyons. In winter the park is quieter, with cool days and occasional snow at higher elevations.
The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.
Do you need a car?
To get there, yes. In town, the local bus and sidewalks are sufficient, and inside Zion, for much of the year, the scenic road is only traversed by park shuttle, on foot or by bicycle.
