Jackson Hole Airport (JAC) is 16 km from town, inside Grand Teton, with domestic flights. Yellowstone is about 90 km to the north, via the south entrance. By car, Salt Lake City is about 460 km away.
How many days
Three to four days: two for Grand Teton and one for the town and the elk refuge. In winter, a week for skiing.
When to go
June to September for Grand Teton, with mild days and cold nights. In autumn, the aspens in the Snake River valley turn golden. December to March for skiing and to see elk at the National Elk Refuge. April, May, October and November are quieter.

Do you need a car?
Yes, for Grand Teton and Yellowstone: there is no public transport inside the parks. In town, local buses connect downtown with Teton Village.

About 90 km to Yellowstone’s South Entrance, crossing Grand Teton. From downtown Jackson to Old Faithful is about 160 km.
What’s the difference between Jackson and Jackson Hole?
Jackson is the town; Jackson Hole is the valley where it sits, between the Teton and Gros Ventre ranges. Jackson Hole Ski Resort is in Teton Village, about 20 km from downtown.
What to do in Jackson in winter?
Ski at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort or at the small Snow King area next to downtown, and take the sleigh ride to see elk at the national refuge.
