About Gage Park
Gage Park covers about 65 hectares in west Topeka and was donated to the city in 1899 by the Gage family. It is the most popular park with families, offering several attractions in one place.
The Reinisch rose garden, created in 1930, has thousands of rose bushes of hundreds of varieties, which usually bloom from May to October, alongside a rock garden and a fish-filled pond. The Topeka Zoo, inside the park, has elephants, giraffes, big cats, orangutans and a plains animal area.
The 1908 carousel has hand-carved wooden horses and operates in the warm season, as does the miniature train that circles the park. There is also a public pool, courts and picnic areas. Park and rose garden admission is free; the zoo, carousel and train charge separate fees.
