How to get there

  • Blue Grass Airport (LEX) 10 km

Approximate distances. Check flights and bus, train or boat schedules before you travel.

Lexington’s airport (LEX) is about 10 km west of downtown, opposite Keeneland. By car, Lexington is about 125 km from Louisville via I-64 and on I-75, which continues to Cincinnati and southward.

How many days

One day covers the Kentucky Horse Park and Keeneland. With two days, you can add a visit to a breeding farm, Ashland and a regional distillery.

When to go

April and October, during Keeneland’s race seasons, when the pastures are green. Summers are humid, and winters are cold.

The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.

Do you need a car?

Yes. Downtown is compact, but the Horse Park, the farms and the distilleries are outside town and don’t have practical public transport.
